Speed Costs Money. How Fast Do You Want To Go?

Loading
First off I would like to thank my good friend Terry Flynn for inviting me into his web site. Being a niche within a niche with a very small production capability I simply can't justify a stand alone web site. Terry has generously devised a way for me to market my very limited product line, thank you Terry.

About me:
Hello, my name is Doug Morris, I'm 55 years old and have been around slot cars for most of my life. My first real contact with slot cars was Christmas 1963 when my sister and I received a Thunderjet 500 figure 8 race set. I joined the Flint Michigan club around 1970 and pretty much raced Riggens and pan type Afx cars in the club and HOPRA thru 74 when I graduated from High School. I did attend the first HOPRA Nationals in 75 but was a non factor due to being out of racing the previous year. Sometime in the early 80s I started doing some local 24th racing and the bug was back. I raced big scale for several years while building a HO collection and a nice home HO track. Along the way I dug out my old brass stuff and started re-creating the Brass Era cars that I had the most fun with back in the day. Over the last 15 or so years I have been steadily building Brass cars for my collection and to sell.

My objective:
My true goal is to build myself a complete Brass Wars collection, from the Carl Dreher T-Jets to the 75 Nats cars that I consider the end of the Brass Era. I strive to build them with vintage parts just as they were raced back in the day. Cars as simple as a Tyco Pro with a Champion pan to scratch built anglewinders and everything in between. Many of my cars are one offs that I keep but many others I have, and will continue to, build in small sets and offering the extra copies for sale for other Brass Wars enthusiasts to enjoy.

Products for sale:

Limited car sets
About once a year I complete a set of cars, usually 6, after mine goes into my collection I usually have 4-5 to sell. These are truly limited, once I build a set I have no desire to go back and build more of the same. I used to sell the excess cars on Ebay but I have not done so in the last few years, therefore I still have a few cars available from past sets, mostly Afx based pan cars. For these cars just contact me and I will send pictures and prices of what I have available.

Gravity race cars
With the renewed interest in gravity racing I have started building and selling bare chassis Afx w/TCP pans that can be completed by the racer. Since they are built vintage style they can also be completed into a vintage reproduction collector car. I have a very small quantity of these on hand, email for details. I have been active in HO club racing for the last 10 years or so, just recently I raced in my first Michigan Gravity series race (4-16-11), my Afx/TCP based pan cars placed 2nd and 3rd in a field of 11. Terry and I both know what it takes to be competitive in gravity racing, between the two of us we can get you up to speed.

TCP Pans
I also have for sale a limited number of NOS TCP pans in several styles for those who would like to try their hand at building their own cars. There are how to reprints at Riggen HO wrote by Tom Coyne (TCP) and I'm currently working on some how to Afx Pan articles that will be posted on this site. I'm also open to answering any of your questions and to help you with your builds.

Custom Cars
On occasion I will custom build a car for you, right now I only offer the TCP Copper Pan and the TCP Steel Pan as custom cars. These pans are extremely rare and I have only a few of each left, I just don't see me ever building a set of either.

Upcoming car builds
In the next couple of years I hope to do a set of Lead Sleds, they were a scratch built car featured in Car Model magazine, it uses a Tyco Pro motor, flag and gears. Also on the wish list is the Afx West Coast Iso type car that Gary Beetle pioneered along with at least one more version of my anglewinder.

Dates, Notes and stuff
Please understand that I have a very low production custom deal going on here, I only have a chance to work on slot cars during the winter and then it's really still just a hobby that I like to share with others. I'm in and out during the summer so sometimes it could be awhile before I can answer an email.

I answer all emails
, if I don't answer your email right away please don't call or email Terry asking about me because if I'm not here to answer your emails then I'm not here to answer his either. I will get back with you.

For the summer of 2011 I will be gone in 2-3 week blocks from mid May thru mid August.

Newsletter I'm going to attempt to do some sort of a newsletter but it will sporadic at best. It won't be anything big, just some occasional hints, sneak peeks into current builds, maybe some Gravity Car race results, just little bits of information that I can pass on. If you would like to be part of this just email me with "Newsletter" in the subject line.

Ordering information
All orders will be handled directly with me by email  momstractors@aol.com  Cars will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Just because a car is pictured on this site doesn't mean it's available or that it will ever be re-stocked, please email me momstractors@aol.com  for current stock. Thank you, Doug Morris
